Maundy Thursday

Posted on Mar 27, 2024
Maundy Thursday, is the day during Holy Week that commemorates the Washing of the Feet and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, as described in the canonical gospels. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday.
To commemorate this special day, HCP Miriam Nsubuga and members of Rotary Club of Nateete Kampala shall not have fellowship, rather we shall go to church, and we shall wash each other’s feet, as we remember the importance of humility, selflessness, and service to others, just as Christ taught us.

The Vacuum of leadership in Rotary by Rtn. Tusu

Posted on Jun 09, 2023
Five Key Indicators of the Leadership Vacuum in Rotary (Are these in your club?)
  • Growing distance – the “them” and “us” feelings
  • Growing number of and love for titles but reducing competence and guidance within and to clubs. Many leaders are too busy being  important to do anything else. (The well-known high-table wars)
  •  Reducing transparency with respect to finances and appointment or nomination to position
  • Growing numbers but reducing service
  • Growing wealth but reducing contributions (cf. the time Kampala North became an All-Paul Harris Club)

My Rotary World by PDG Emmanuel Katongole

Posted on Nov 24, 2022
PDG Emmanuel katongole shared with us an inspiring topic, "My Rotary World"
PDG Emmanuel shared so many stories, and all our guests were inspired to join and serve humanity.
PDG Emmanuel defined his Rotary World as the world of fantasy giving an example of sitting with the chief judges like our own PP Baligeya Moses & share a glass of wine & praised that kindness he has seen in his rotary world.
Among the several stories PDG Emmanuel shared, he talked about a Rotarian who picked him from the village & started sponsoring him into a very good secondary school. he never dreamt about it because he was coming from a very poor family of 4 children & he was the only boy in 3 girls. Indeed, if it wasn't that Rotarian who got him from the poor family, he wouldn't have been a big person we are seeing today. Unfortunately, all her sister's died and he has done all his best to remember all his 3 sisters by doing the good the world.

In Uganda, adolescents and young people continue to get their #SRHR information from peers, media , and internet among others which is often unfiltered putting them at a great risk of consequences such as unwanted pregnancies, STIs and HIV, cross generation sex etc. Parents and guardians need to make an effort in ensuring that their children get first hand information from them all the time.

Management of Grants and Stewardship

Posted on Aug 06, 2020

Key Notes from Fellowship
Global grants Changes
Rotaract clubs can sponsor global grants, New area of focus- supporting environment, Changes in international funding

In order to achieve stewardship
- there should be proper accountability, Clubs should put in place proper documentation systems, Clubs should ensure proper timely reporting.

The clubs should therefore ensure systems are in place to check such as bad practises which give rise to stewardship issues.
Thank you so much our Guest Speaker

Farewell Message from Presidency

Dear Rotarians / Friends,
I wrote my first note here as a President in July 2019; see how days ran very fast in that i am  I am now saying bye .

Presidency has been the best voluntary service in my life. I have been  a Student, Teacher,  Parent, Finance Officer, Beggar, Entertainer name it.  However in all this,  I am happy that I have  re-branded my skills and character.  I have  connected locally  and world wide but above I am confident that I have received God's blessings for serving humanity.

The year has been short, I still wanted more days and weeks of service and connection but we all know Rotary works on succession plan.  I therefore gladly introduce to you the incoming President Rtn Margaret Magumba.  Kindy love and support her the way you have always done.

I sincerely thank you all  my friends for  the love, support and guidance. This has been a journey of  immeasurable happiness. Some have called or sent in messages to check on me and see how I was fairing with the Presidency while others offered resources to the projects.

Thank you so much/Mwebale nyo/Asante Sana/Afwoyo Matek/Merci Beaucoup

Presidents' Message

Posted on Mar 05, 2020
Dear Friends
The Rotary year 2019-2020 is running very fast, yes it is true we are bidding farewell, tugenda. Whenever I think of that statement I ask myself “what have I done for the Club”. Sincerely when I look back I smile widely, because I can comfortably say that I have achieved. Ofcourse it will never be 100% but the joy of serving and leading the club to my ability is just enough for me to celebrate and thank God for the strength.
We have a few months left and hope to do even more.
Allow me to dedicate this message to all RC Nateete Members, all our guests the Rotarians, Interractors and special Guests for supporting us in every way possible.
I believe there is nothing of value that can be given to such a group but I can only ask God’s blessings to be showered and provided in doubles.
Enjoy the month of Water and Sanitation as we serve humanity

Tips on how to keep Healthy & young

Posted on Dec 06, 2019
The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly. Many of us are looking for ways to stay young although you cannot stop the clock, you can fight the signs of ageing and the ageing process with a few wise moves.

These tips I am giving you will help you to look and feel younger for longer.

A. Two things to check as often as you can
(1) Your blood pressure
(2) Your blood sugar

B. Four things to reduce to the minimum on your foods:
(1) Salt
(2) sugar
(3) dairy products
(4) starchy products

C. Four things to increase in your foods’
(1) Greens/vegetables
(2) beans
(3) fruits
(4) nuts

D. Three things one need to forget:
(1) Your age
(2) your past
(3) your grievances

E. Four things one must have, no matter how weak or how strong you are:
(1) Friends who truly love you
(2) caring family
(3) positive thoughts
(4) a warm home.

F. Five things which helped me to stay healthy:
(1) fasting
(2) smiling / laughing
(3) exercise
(4) reduce your weight.
(5) Have more sex: This is official, getting active between the sheets can keep you youthful. Sex enhances emotional intimacy it relaxes, decreases stress, and makes one feel great. Hallerujah……….

G. Six things I do not do:
(1) I Don't wait till you are hungry to eat
(2) I don't wait till you are thirsty to drink
(3) I don't wait till you are sleepy to sleep
(4)I don't wait till you feel tired to rest
(5) I don't wait till you get sick to go for medical check-ups otherwise you will only regret later in life
(6) I don’t wait till you have problem before you pray to your God.

Wishing Success to all our Interact Clubs School

There is magic in encouragement, it changes the direction of someone's mind set. As mothers (Rotary Club of Nateete Kampala) of Interract Clubs of Pride College Mpigi, Mackay Memorial College, Rubaga Mixed and Kabowa High School we had to show the UCE and UACE candidates that they are very special to us.

Our Youth Director Rtn Winnie accompaned by the Executive Secretary Rtn Yawe were at the Schools to show love, encouragement and ofourse the cards printed by the Club for them.

We have been together for such a long time and confident they will make it. May God guide them all through as they write their exams, Amen.

Saving lives in Ghana

What is it like taking a large team to Africa?  It has probably been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. In mid February, I began leading Rotary members from all over the East Coast of the United States through Ghana. I’ve tried to give the team a warm Ghanaian welcome like I’ve received on my earlier trips. A large trip is a real blessing because each person sees Ghana and our work in a different way.

India celebrates three years without polio

Throughout India and around the world, Rotary clubs are celebrating a major milestone: India has gone three years without a new case of polio. The last reported case was a two-year-old girl in West Bengal on 13 January 2011. To mark this historic triumph, Rotary clubs illuminated landmarks and iconic structures throughout the country with four simple but powerful words, "India is polio free."
